About Dayna Macy

Since 2001, I've worked as the communications director at Yoga Journal magazine. During my tenure, the circulation of the magazine has more than tripled and the magazine has won many national awards, including four Folio Editorial Excellence Award Awards for "Best Health and Fitness Magazine" in the country.

In September 2006, Yoga Journal was acquired by Active Interest Media, the consumer enthusiast media company. Since that time, I've been the communications director for AIM's Healthy Living Group, which includes Yoga Journal, Vegetarian Times, Backpacker, Better Nutrition and other custom publication titles.

I also work with select clients, bringing national exposure to media brands. My clients have included Western Interiors and Design magazine, California Monthly magazine, and other publications. My expertise is in designing and implementing company-wide media strategies, and raising the national profile of growing media companies.

Prior to working with Yoga Journal, I directed public relations for various media companies, including Collins Publishers San Francisco, Ten Speed Press, Nolo Press, and Salon.com. The results of my work have appeared in all major media including Time, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Vanity Fair, Oprah, Good Morning America, The Today Show, NPR's "Fresh Air," "All Things Considered," "Morning Edition," PRI's Marketplace, CNN, NBC Nightly News, CBS News and ABC News.

I am a writer, specializing in food and sustainable agriculture. My work has appeared in Self, Yoga Journal, Salon.com, San Francisco Magazine, and other publications.

I graduated from Drew University in Madison, N.J., and received my masters degree in philosophy from Brown University in Providence, R.I. I am passionate about yoga, folk music, and my children, Matthew and Jack.
